April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is among the few female players of beach volleyball to be able to do so. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal in the next few days. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister were residents there. She was a basketball player and also ran the track as well as her indoor volleyball exploits as a pre-collegiate athlete. But she stood out in this sport. The college bio says that she played outside of the hitter middle blocker and setter in her volleyball playing career at high school. Thanks to her hard work she was named an 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman began their relationship in 2017 but Ross was a beach scene player for years prior to. She's won big competitions with different players. The other is an icon of the volleyball world. She teamed up along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's trainer. Along with Kessy Ross was awarded the World Championship in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. They went into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team who was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, beat each other to take home the gold medal. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. In 2016, the pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross participated in the Trojans of USC in her college after graduating from the high school she attended. Her time in the Trojans' ranks was a memorable one. In 2000 she was voted Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal loss during her sophomore year, but was still successful in achieving the All-American award. The two years following her she led the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. Her individual achievements have cemented her place as a legendary volleyball player. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross was a major in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross did not get to see Ross reach beach volleyball's highest level. Ross's mother died of cancer of the breast when she was in her sophomore year at USC. Her mother is still very dearly. Margie continues to be an inspiration both on and off of the shore.
